JACKSONVILLE, Texas (TXAN 24) — On August 22, 2024, a coordinated operation by the Jacksonville Police Department, Texas Rangers, Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department, and the U.S. Marshals office led to the arrest of a juvenile suspect in connection with the murder of Clara Deane Wilson, a 29-year-old resident of Jacksonville. Due to the suspect’s age, their identity cannot be disclosed. Authorities have indicated that the investigation is ongoing, with additional arrests expected.
The incident that claimed Wilson’s life occurred on August 17, 2024, at approximately 2:52 AM. Jacksonville Police received a call reporting a shooting in the 400 block of Gillespie Avenue. Jacksonville Police and Jacksonville Fire/EMS responded promptly to the scene, where they discovered Wilson, who had succumbed to an apparent gunshot wound.
The Jacksonville Police Department, in collaboration with the Texas Rangers and other law enforcement agencies, continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the homicide.
