JUSTICE: One woman dead after alleged hit-and-run, questions follow investigation

CANTON, Texas (TXAN 24) — In the wake of the tragic accident that claimed the life of his sister, Brooke, on Thursday night, July 4th, Cody Gandy has taken extraordinary steps to uncover the truth and seek justice.


"I’m sure by now everyone knows that my sister Brooke was killed," her brother in a now viral social media post, expressing the heartbreak and urgency that has driven his actions.


Using the information he gleaned from a plastic fragment allegedly found at the scene where his sister was hit, he made a public post seeking help to locate the vehicle.


The response was overwhelming, with numerous messages and texts providing leads.


Through these efforts, he managed to allegedly identify the alleged car and the alleged driver, Shiloh Danielle Scott.


"I gave all that info to the highway patrol," he noted, emphasizing his role in the investigation. Law enforcement subsequently located and impounded the car, yet no arrest was made.


Gandy, raised concerns about the reasoning provided by law enforcement,


Despite advice to refrain from posting on social media, he believes transparency is crucial.


"If me posting this affects them doing their job and what’s right, then that’s on them, not this post," he asserted.


Brooke's brother's pursuit of justice highlights the challenges faced by families in the wake of such tragedies.
