JISD searches for new AD, Head Football Coach as Jason Holman’s tenure ends

JACKSONVILLE, Texas (TXAN 24) -- Jason Holman’s three-year tenure as the athletic director and head football coach at Jacksonville High School has officially come to a close. The Jacksonville Independent School District (JISD) has posted the opening for the position, signaling the end of Holman’s leadership.

“I can confirm the AD/Head Coach position is posted,” said Grace Traylor, JISD Public Information Officer, late Monday afternoon. “Due to the holiday break, transition details are still being worked out, and the district will have a statement when school resumes.”

The district’s holiday break concludes on January 6, 2025, leaving the specifics of Holman’s departure and plans for the role’s replacement to be addressed in the coming weeks.

Holman, a former Jacksonville High School standout, returned to lead the Indians after achieving success at Tatum High School. During his three seasons at Tatum, he compiled a 19-12 record and led the Eagles to the playoffs twice. However, his time at Jacksonville proved far more challenging.

Under Holman’s guidance, the Indians struggled to find their footing, amassing an overall record of 4-26. After a winless 0-10 campaign in 2023, the team managed just one victory in the 2024 season, a 35-7 triumph over Brownsboro on September 6.

Holman’s departure marks a pivotal moment for Jacksonville’s football program. With the position now open, the district faces the task of finding a leader who can revive the Indians and restore the program’s competitiveness.
