RUSK, Texas (TXAN 24) — A concerned parent has come forward with allegations involving Rusk ISD School Board President Jake Ocker, accusing him of following numerous local high school girls on Instagram, including her own daughter—a high school senior.
According to the parent, she discovered Ocker’s account was following what she described as “pornographic” content and a significant number of female students in the area, prompting her to notify other parents and request a meeting with Superintendent Dr. Burton.
EXPLICIT CONTENT WARNING:
The parent says she met with Dr. Burton last week and later attended the April 14 board meeting, where she attempted to speak publicly but was denied due to agenda constraints. She says she handed printed screenshots to the superintendent, demanding Ocker withdraw from reelection. Dr. Burton reportedly told her he would speak with Ocker and later stated that Ocker agreed to stop following the students.
However, the parent says Ocker has not unfollowed the girls and remains in his position.
Rusk ISD policy prohibits employees from engaging with students on social media, but it’s unclear if similar rules apply to board members.
TXAN 24 News will be reaching out to the district for comment and clarification on the board’s social media standards.
