BREAKING: Westwood Names Glen Tunstall Interim Head Coach Following UIL Suspension of Richard Bishop

Updated: Nov 11, 2024

PALESTINE, Texas (TXAN 24) — In a swift response to recent developments, Palestine Westwood High School has announced the appointment of Glen Tunstall as Interim Head Coach of the varsity football team. This decision comes after the UIL (University Interscholastic League) issued a suspension for Head Coach Richard Bishop, barring him from participating for the remainder of the 2024 season. Despite the suspension, the team will retain its current season record, with no games forfeited.

Coach Tunstall steps into his new role with a wealth of experience and a strong dedication to upholding the program’s values. Known for his leadership both on and off the field, he is expected to provide the guidance and stability the team needs to navigate the remainder of the season.

“We’re confident that Coach Tunstall’s leadership will help our student-athletes continue striving for excellence,” said school administrators in a statement.

As the Westwood Panthers adjust to the coaching shift, all eyes will be on Coach Tunstall’s influence on the team’s performance in the coming weeks. For now, fans and the Westwood community are encouraged to rally behind the Panthers as they aim to finish the season strong under new leadership.
