BREAKING: Longview teacher arrested for sexual assault of child

LONGVIEW, Texas (TXAN 24) — On January 11, 2025, at approximately 3:49 PM, Longview Police Officers responded to a residence in reference to a sexual assault that had already occurred.

The investigation resulted in officers learning that a 15 year old female was sexually assaulted by 25 year old male, D’Marjai Dearion of Longview.

Longview Police Detectives obtained a warrant for Dearion on January 14, 2025. Dearion was arrested this same day.

Longview ISD released a statement.

When allegations against Mr. D'Marjai Dearion were brought to Longview ISD's attention on Monday, Jan. 13, he was immediately removed from campus and placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

Following his arrest on Jan. 14, Mr. Dearion submitted his resignation. Dearion had been employed with Longview ISD as a physical education teacher and coach since August 2023. He served at Judson Middle School during the 2023–24 school year and at East Texas Montessori Prep Academy and Forest Park Middle School during the 2024–25 school year.

Longview ISD is cooperating fully with the Longview Police Department's ongoing investigation and expresses gratitude for their assistance. The district has also reported this incident to the Texas Education Agency (TEA) as required by state law. The safety and security of our students, employees, and campuses is Longview ISD’s highest priority.

We strongly condemn any actions that compromise the well-being of those entrusted to our care and remain committed to maintaining a safe and supportive environment for all members of our school community.
